TESTIMONIALS:

“A week ago, I caught a cold, and to my horror, it turned into asthma. It’s been almost a year since my last asthma attack. Last time it happened, I had to get on inhalers, my breathing machine, and Prednisone. It took several months to feel like I was breathing normally again, even on the medication, and I experienced some bad side effects from being on a steroid (severe anxiety and loss of appetite).

Basically, our family missed summer last year because I was so sick. So, two days ago when my chest started getting tight and wheezy, I got really scared (and so did my family!). I’ve used essential oils for so many ailments, but I’ve never gotten aggressive with them during an asthma attack. Honestly, I have lacked the confidence that they could work for something as serious as asthma. As I looked at my breathing machine and medications, I resolved to do everything I could so I wouldn’t need to use the medication. But, I knew it was there, and that I would use it if I wasn’t seeing improvement with the oils.

I looked at my Modern Essentials book under “asthma” and got all the top recommended oils out, which included: eucalyptus, frankincense, peppermint, thyme, Breathe, and lavender.

I dripped several drops of Frankincense under my tongue a few times during the day. I rubbed a few drops on the bottoms of my feet (along with all the other asthma oils), and swallowed several drops in a gel capsule. With asthma, the bronchioles become inflamed, so I figured Frankincense would help, because it is an anti-inflammatory. And as the saying goes, “when in doubt, use Frankincense!”

I also dripped a few drops of Breathe into my hands, rubbed them together, then cupped them around my face and breathed in through my nose. I was amazed at how well this worked in decreasing the wheezing/congestion, and in opening me up. It became my natural breathing machine, instead of the one you plug into the wall and fill with medication such as albuterol, which causes rapid heart rate, shakiness, nausea, and anxiety.

I did this many times throughout the day and it always brought relief….

I also put the asthma oils on my chest, and put a moist heating pad directly on my skin. The moist heat helps drive those oils into the body….

By evening, I started to realize that my asthma was almost gone! Usually asthma gets worse at night, so I was really surprised that it was getting so much better! I was completely blown away by the results I got from using the essential oils to make my asthma go away. ONE DAY to get better instead of weeks/months! The essential oils allowed my body to heal itself. I know that asthma medications can be life-saving, but they can also be damaging. I feel that trying to heal my asthma with synthetic medications in the past worked against me, and left me sicker than I was before using the medications. I understand the life-saving necessity of medications- I don’t want to sound like an extremist. I have no intention of throwing my asthma medications in the trash- I just don’t think I’ll need to use them again! It is empowering to me to know that I can help my health without experiencing the negative side-effects of medication.

I am so happy I had this experience with asthma and the essential oils so I can share it with others! That makes the suffering worth it to me. doTERRA essential oils and Buteyko breathing got rid of my asthma attack, and I have no doubt they can do the same for others who suffer with asthma.

The NEXT DAY, our family went rock climbing! Unreal! I am so grateful!”

Many Uses for Marjoram Essential Oil

 Marjoram: DoTerra Essential Oil

Marjoram_15

Sweet Marjoram Essential Oil is indigenous to the Mediterranean region: Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco. It was known to the Greeks and Romans as a symbol of happiness. The ancient Greeks used marjoram in cosmetics, fragrances and medicines; Greek physicians also used it as an antidote to poison. In 16th century Europe, sweet marjoram was used in bags to scent the bath water and for washing. In Egypt, it was known for its healing properties and was also anciently used to aid grieving.

dōTERRA sources its sweet Marjoram Essential Oil from Egypt. Many use marjoram for alleviating migraines, arthritis, headaches, respiratory infections, sinusitis, insomnia, anxiety, nervous depression, asthma, bronchitis, colds, constipation, flatulence, grief, menstrual difficulties (including PMT) and stress.

Other Uses of Marjoram

Sweet marjoram oil is also used as a fragrance ingredient in perfumes, cosmetics, soaps and detergents; it is also found in meats, sauces, and seasonings.

Culinary Uses of Marjoram

When cooking with marjoram essential oil, remember that doTERRA oils are in their purest form, which makes them very concentrated. Only a tiny amount is needed to flavor meats, sauces, or seasonings. When substituting marjoram essential oil for the dried or fresh herb, begin with the toothpick method. Dip a toothpick in the oil and swirl into the sauce until the desired taste is achieved. For larger quantities, one drop of the oil will add plenty of flavor.

Recent News about Marjoram

A recently published article in Martha Stewart’s Whole Living refers to Marjoram Essential Oil’s ability to treat eczema. Eczema is a chronic, inflammatory skin disorder. Although eczema is not contagious, it is very common—estimates are that more than 15 million people in the United States have eczema. One clinical study evaluating essential oils for treating children with eczema concluded that massage with essential oils was effective in improving the dry, scaly skin lesions. The essential oils most often chosen by the mothers in the study included sweet marjoram, frankincense, German chamomile, myrrh, thyme, benzoin, spike lavender, and Litsea cubeba.

Oregano (Origanum vulgare)

OREGANO (Not just for cooking!)
Historically, Greek physicians used oregano essential oils for wounds, headaches, and venomous bites and even hemlock poisoning. It wasn’t long before its medicinal benefits were used to treat lung conditions, bronchitis, sinusitis, and cold symptoms including cough.   The benefits of using oregano essential oil have captured the interest of modern-day researchers.  Today, oregano essential oil has antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, and antiseptic properties. For external use, oregano essential oil is valued as a strong analgesic and antirheumatic agent.

Uses:

As a general guideline, oil of oregano can be diluted 50% or more with a carrier oil (such as fractionated coconut oil)and applied directly to the affected area.  It is a hot oil so dilution is recommended to prevent irritation.  It can also be used more specifically, as in the following examples:

  • Rub the diluted oil into the gums 1-2 times per day for infections.
  • Apply oregano essential oil to warts, boils, or even fungal infections such as athlete’s foot. Saturate the area, bind with a clean bandage. allow the oil to sit overnight and then change the dressing.  Continue until the infection is gone.
  • Add several drops of oregano oil to liquid hand soap or body wash to expedite healing of wounds, abscesses, or skin infections.
  • Apply diluted oregano essential oil into areas of diaper rash at each diaper change until the rash is gone. Make sure to use only a 1-2 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil to avoid irritation.
  • Rub a drop of the oil underneath each nostril daily to relieve sinus problems. Inhale deeply each time to allow the vapors to travel through your sinuses.
  • Oregano oil can also be used as an antiseptic for use in cleaning supplies. Try adding several drops of the diluted oil to a clean cotton cloth and wiping down kitchen surfaces to kill any harmful bacteria.
  • Diffuse overnight to help reduce congestion or sinus problems.
  • Gargle Diluted with water for sore throats.
  • Can be used internally as a natural anti-biotic

There are several studies showing that Oregano my be effective in fighting bacteria:
